Introduction Blunt Traumatic Aortic Injury (BTAI) refers to tearing of the wall of the aorta, a serious, often fatal, injury that occurs during severe automobile collisions. BTAI is one of the most common causes of death in road traffic accidents [1], and may be caused by other impacts, such as in fall victims.
